51ĀŅĀ× Earns 2014 Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award
51ĀŅĀ× has received the 2014 Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) award from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine, the oldest and largest diversity-focused publication in higher education.
As a recipient of the annual HEED Awardāa national honor recognizing U.S. colleges and universities that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to diversity and inclusionā51ĀŅĀ× will be featured along with 82 other recipients in magazineās November 2014 issue.

INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine selected 51ĀŅĀ× based on the Universityās exemplary diversity and inclusion initiatives, and ability to embrace a broad definition of diversity on its campus, including gender, race, ethnicity, veterans and people with disabilities.
The Office of Inclusion and Multicultural Engagement at 51ĀŅĀ× operates with a mindset of āinclusive excellenceā by infusing lessons about diversity in core requirements for all students; by training a team of Student Navigators to help students engage in the Universityās rich multicultural environment; and by establishing 51ĀŅĀ×ās new Mosaic House as a vibrant gathering place for cultural learning, dialogue and intellectual growth.
