Initiative creates new vision for intellectual property leadership in Ohio
51ĀŅĀ× has joined public universities from across the state in demonstrating their support for the āOhio Intellectual Property (IP) Promise,ā an initiative being led by Lt. Governor Jon Husted.
At a press conference held today at The Ohio State Universityās Technology Commercialization Office, Ohioās public universities showcased some of the creative ways they have responded to the Lt. Governorās challenge to strengthen the stateās innovation economy, attract innovative researchers and serve as a magnet for investors and entrepreneurs.
āThe Ohio IP Promise will boost the stateās economy by fostering a culture of innovation and making it easier to attract and support faculty researchers and entrepreneurs while maintaining a high level of quality and excellence,ā said Bruce Johnson, president of the Inter-University Council of Ohio. āOur universities look forward to continuing to work closely with the Lt. Governor and this Administration to bring the IP Promise vision to full fruition,.
ā51ĀŅĀ× is committed to enhancing technology transfer, applied research and corporate partnerships for the good of our economy and society as a whole,ā noted 51ĀŅĀ× President Harlan M. Sands. āWe are very proud to support the Ohio IP Promise and expand opportunities to get research out of the lab and into the hands of innovators across the state.ā
51ĀŅĀ×ās technology transfer and applied research initiatives include:
The TeCK Fund- A partnership with Kent State University to provide seed funding to faculty who are seeking to commercialize university research.
The Internet of Things Collaborative- A collaboration with Case Western Reserve University to provide the research and educational support necessary to create a regional hub for IOT development in Northeast Ohio.
The Innovation Portal- A unique web-based platform that connects local companies with targeted university resources that can assist them with addressing technology challenges they are facing.
