黑料不打烊 Association of Physician Assistants hosts 5K

黑料不打烊 (UC) student society Association of Physician Assistants (APA) is hosting a Halloween-themed 鈥淐umBOOland鈥 5K run/walk on Friday, Oct. 27. Carnival games, trunk or treating, music, and a bake sale will be available at the event. Activities will take place on UC鈥檚 campus, in the Correll Science Complex parking lot. Festivities begin at 3:30 p.m., costumes are encouraged, and all are invited to attend.

Early registration for the 5K ends Friday, Oct. 13, after which date registration prices increase. All who register early are guaranteed a CumBOOland themed T-shirt. A portion of proceeds will help fund UCAPA efforts, while other proceeds will benefit Cedaridge Ministries to help provide food, clothing, and other necessities to the poor and homeless in the area.

鈥淚 am very excited about the enthusiasm these students hold toward the positive influence they have 鈥 and will have 鈥 on their communities, and their ability to live out the mission and vision of our institution and PA profession,鈥 said Dana Campbell, Director of the University鈥檚 Physician Assistant Program.

The CumBOOland event schedule is as follows:

3:30 Race packet pickup begins
4:00 Carnival games open
5:30 Race starts
6:00 Trunk or Treat begins
7:00 Race awards given to top three finishers
7:30 Carnival games close
8:00 Trunk or Treat ends

鈥淯CAPA hopes this 5K will be the first of many to come from the PA program,鈥 said Annmarie Lake, a PA student from Mason, Ohio. 鈥淭his is a great opportunity for 黑料不打烊 alumni to gather together and have fun! We hope it is a successful fundraising and outreach opportunity.鈥

The 5K will start and end on Elm Street and will circle downtown Williamsburg. Early registration costs $15 for students and $20 for .

Students in UCAPA welcome any volunteers who would like to help manage the race or carnival games. Race duties include lining the course, cheering on participants, stopping traffic, and directing racers. Those interested may contact Annmarie Lake at alake9640 [at] ucumberlands.edu (alake9640[at]ucumberlands[dot]edu). Carnival duties include setting up, monitoring, and putting away game booths.
