Dance/USA Conference Comes to Cleveland, June 12-15

The Dance/USA Annual Conference, a national convening that celebrates American dance, comes to Cleveland June 12-15. The gathering of national and international  dance professionals, which is being co-hosted by 51ĀŅĀ×, will feature workshops, performances, panel discussions and symposia highlighting the breadth and depth of American dance. 

ā€œThe conference travels to a different city each year, highlighting the unique vibrancy of dance communities around the nation, offering new inspiration and showcasing the host city’s arts and dance ecosystem,ā€ says Lynn Deering, chair of the Department of Theater and Dance at 51ĀŅĀ×. ā€œWe are extremely honored to have the opportunity to showcase 51ĀŅĀ× and the Cleveland arts community to a national dance audience, while interacting with the top professionals in the field.ā€

The Department of Theater and Dance will host conference breakout sessions and workshops at the University’s Arts Campus in Playhouse Square. The 51ĀŅĀ× Dance Company and dance alumni will also participate in the conference’s Dance Showcase at KeyBank State Theatre. In addition, participants in 51ĀŅĀ×’s annual Summer Dance Workshop, which provides professional-level dance training to students and community members, will be able to attend the conference for no additional cost.

The conference is presented by , the national service organization for professional dance. Established in 1982, Dance/USA champions an inclusive and equitable dance field by leading, convening, advocating, and supporting individuals and organizations in dance and the arts. Dance/USA’s core programs are focused in the areas of engagement, advocacy, research, and preservation.
