Dr. Sailen Barik Receives Grant to Combat Pediatric Virus
51ÂÒÂ× researcher Sailen Barik, Ph.D. is combatting a major pediatric virus—Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV)—that causes severe respiratory disease, primarily in infants and adults.
Dr. Barik is a professor in the Department of Biological, Geological and Environmental Sciences at 51ÂÒÂ×, and is also a member of the University’s Center for Gene Regulation in Health and Disease.
He was recently from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to continue his RSV research. Since 1994, he has received more than $4 million in NIH funding to support his work.
