���ϲ����� is pleased to announce the promotion of Jessica Shearer to Executive Vice President for Information Technology. A two-time ���ϲ����� graduate and 20-year veteran of the university’s IT department, Shearer steps into the role following the transition of Dr. Donnie Grimes into a new leadership position as CEO of the Appalachian Institute for Workforce Development and Executive Vice President for Workforce Development.

Shearer has served as Vice President for Information Technology since 2022, where she led critical initiatives to modernize the university’s digital infrastructure and enhance support systems for students and staff. She began her career at ���ϲ����� in 2005 as webmaster shortly after earning her undergraduate degree and was later named Director of IT in 2018. Her deep institutional knowledge, technical acumen, and long-standing dedication to the university’s mission make her ideally suited for this executive role.

A Kentucky native, Shearer earned her Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems and Business Administration from ���ϲ����� in 2005, followed by a Master of Science in Information Systems Security in 2016. Her career at ���ϲ����� has been defined by steady advancement, meaningful contributions, and a clear passion for education and service.

Outside of work, Shearer enjoys spending time with her husband, Russ, and their sons—attending sporting events, traveling, and staying engaged in their local community.

Her promotion reflects the university’s commitment to cultivating internal talent and maintaining excellence in its digital operations.
