Social Work Program Earns Reaccreditation
51ĀŅĀ×ās graduate social work program has recently received reaccreditation from the Council on Social Work Education.
For over 20 years, 51ĀŅĀ× and the University of Akron offered a joint Master of Social Work program. In 2016, with the approval of the Ohio Department of Higher Education, 51ĀŅĀ× began a free-standing social work program with a new curriculum specializing in advanced generalist and clinical social work practice. This program has now received reaffirmation of accreditation from CSWE.
In order to earn accreditation, the School of Social Work underwent a rigorous review process which included writing a self-study report and a site visit by CSWE reviewers. The Commission on Accreditation at CSWE administers the overall process which includes reviewing the programās self-study, site visit report and the schoolās response to the report.
Ohio requires social workers to obtain a license in order to practice in the field. Students seeking to become a licensed social worker in the state of Ohio must graduate from a CSWE accredited program in order to be eligible for the licensure exam.
