A student organization at ���ϲ����� (UC) will host a patriotic program on the University’s campus in September to recognize active-duty military, veterans, and first responders.

The event is organized by Sigma Tau Delta, the English honor society, and will take place Sept. 8 at 8:00 p.m. outside the Hutton School of Business.

“It is because we’re inspired by their service and because we care about what they do that we offer this community-wide thank you to those who have offered their all,” said Dr. Cristy Hall, organizer of the event and faculty advisor for Sigma Tau Delta.

Prior to the event, organizers are requesting a collection of photographs featuring men and women who have served in the military or as first responders. The photos will be placed on luminary bags and featured throughout the University’s Patriot Park, embodying the event’s theme, “1,000 Lights, 1 Purpose: A Glowing Tribute to Those Who Serve.”

The event is open to all members of the community who wish to attend. There is no cost to participate but $5 donations are being accepted in honor of a friend or loved one who served. Proceeds from the event will benefit USA Cares, a non-profit organization in Radcliff, Kentucky, that provides emergency financial assistance to veterans and active military families post-9/11.
