Proficiency Evaluation for Additional Education Certification

The online Proficiency Evaluation for Additional Certification program at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ offers an encouraging and collaborative online learning experience. Through the program, you will be provided with a broad and robust knowledge base in pedagogy and instruction. This certificate program is specifically designed for candidates who currently hold initial certification in education in the state of Kentucky and who wish to add additional certification in one or more of the career areas listed under "Course Requirements."

Conforming to standards issued by the EPSB, this non-degree Proficiency Evaluation for Additional Education Certification online program helps licensed teachers earn additional educational certifications to teach specific age groups, subject areas, students with learning disorders, and more.

Course Requirements

The Proficiency Evaluation Program at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ provides a pathway for certified educators to add additional certification areas to an existing teaching certificate. Unlike traditional programs with a fixed course sequence, each candidate’s prior coursework is reviewed by the Proficiency Coordinator, and an individualized Educator Learning Plan (ELP) is developed. Most candidates complete 6–18 credit hours, along with relevant Praxis exams and a comprehensive exam to earn additional certification. This pathway also qualifies for provisional licensure, allowing educators to begin teaching in the new certification area while completing the ELP.
