Wireless Networks

UC provides two wireless networks to access the Internet. Each network is unique to University affiliation and device type.

UC-SECURE

UC’s preferred wireless network allows for the smooth operation of laptops, phones, and tablets. This secure, encrypted network works with most devices and requires a UC username and password.

UC-SECURE is the University's preferred network for wirelessly accessing the internet on a laptop, phone, or tablet.

The newly-expanded network provides students and employees with a fast, reliable, and secure connection on campus.

  • Try to connect most devices here first
  • Requires UC username and password
  • Secure, encrypted network
  • Will work with most computers, tablets, and phones
  • The device must be compatible with an enterprise wireless network

UC-Patriot-WIFI

The network for devices for gaming, entertainment, music, and the like will all operate best using UC-Patriot-WIFI. This separate Wi-Fi keeps your games running well without the overload of excess connections and keeps your movies in quality!

Employees and students who want to connect game consoles, entertainment devices, or smart speakers to the University's network will connect to UC-Patriot-WIFI.

  • Designed for Internet-of-Things (IoT) and Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) (e.g. game systems, streaming devices, smart speakers, etc.)
  • Also can be used if your device is not compatible with UC-SECURE
  • Game consoles and devices without browsers should be registered at www.ucumberlands.edu/devices prior to connecting. You can find a tutorial for how to register devices below.
