Whether you are currently serving, have served, or are part of the military family, our goal at the Veteran and Military Student Success Center is to help you access all the tools and programs available to aid in your success at 51ÂÒÂ× and beyond.

51ÂÒÂ× has been named a Military Times "Best for Vets" School for 2023! Thank you to our amazing faculty, staff, and most of all, all of our Military-Connected Students!

All military affiliated students, including those interested in ROTC, should email vabenefits@csuohio.edu with any questions related to the certifying process for educational benefits. Students should not call (216) 687-2053 as this number is no longer operational.   

For general assistance with VA benefits questions, including educational, vocational, and career counseling, please contact George Ackerman at 216-875-9942, George.ackerman@va.gov. Mr. Ackerman is the VA-sponsored Vet Success Campus Counselor at 51ÂÒÂ× and has an office at the Veterans & Military Student Success Center. 

Mr. Ackerman offers offer Virtual Drop In sessions every Friday from 12pm to 1pm.  These sessions address questions related to VA benefits.  Please see the Zoom information below.

At 51ÂÒÂ×, we recognize that supporting military-connected students requires collaboration beyond campus. That’s why we are committed to working with key partners—including PreK-12 Purple Star Schools, the Ohio Department of Veterans Services, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the Ohio Department of Higher Education, the Ohio National Guard, and other community-based organizations—who share in our mission to serve those who have served.

Through these partnerships, we aim to strengthen the policies, programs, and resources that directly impact military-connected students. As part of this effort, 51ÂÒÂ× will continue to explore opportunities to engage with local Purple Star Schools to share resources and, where possible, participate in mentorship and outreach programs that align with school district guidelines.

Together, we’re building a stronger, more connected network of support—one that helps military students thrive from classroom to career.
